/var/log/messages popping up in my console

I have a server that has messages identical to some that appear in /var/log/messages popping up on the command line.

Quote:

[root@manbck02 logs]# Jul 5 09:44:04 manbck02 logger: NetWorker media: (critical) TapeAlert flag "Clean now" has been posted for /dev/nst1Jul 5 09:45:45 manbck02 logger: NetWorker media: (waiting) Waiting for 1 writable volume(s) to backup pool 'Offsite' disk(s) or tape(s) on manvcb10004.mdman.no
The messages are alert messages from legato backup software. This might be related to outgoing mail being blocked for this server.

Any idea what I should check? It's really annoying when I'm typing a command on the server, and these alert messages pop up on my command line.

You should be able to edit syslog cfg to not log those msgs to the console.
Alternately, you may find using an alternate 'console' via eg ctrl-alt-f2 might work.
