Hello,
I've tried to set up Vacation on my Linux box... The box runs Sendmail with Cyrus IMAP.
It works as far as creating .forward files and the rest, but when I send a letter to a user who's on "vacation", I have the following error message bounced back to me in email:
Code:
The original message was received at Wed, 22 Oct 2008 09:36:56 -0500
from example.com [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
|/usr/bin/vacation user_on_vacation
(reason: 550 5.1.1 User unknown)
(expanded from: <user_on_vacation@example.org>)
----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 5.1.1 /home/user_on_vacation/.forward: line 1: |/usr/bin/vacation user_on_vacation...
User unknown
I don't understand. I did everything according to what I remembered from earlier, but it seems that sendmail treats the vacation program referenced in the .forward file as a user, and not as a command... At least this is what it seems like.
Any ideas would be helpful at this point.
Thanks a bunch!
