Red face Using separate file systems for swap and / while installing servers

I am still puzzled by IT guru who still install a server version of Linux using the default partition system. I am curious about what the IT guys in this forum think about this, even when the server is part of a cluster.

Sometimes the defaults are good sometimes they're not. They vary distribution to distribution. If it's a good idea or not depends on the revision of linux and its defaults, the applications and function of the server, and the reasons behind it.

Since we have virtually no information other than he is taking defaults for partitioning scheme... we have no real good way to give you accurate input. I would suggest asking the person him or her-self why they choose the default scheme if you disagree.
