userdir problem on fc8
i have installed fc8
i have apache.2.2.6 my web folders are under /home/user/website/ there are 2 things iam not able to do: 1) enable UserDir - even though i have enabled it in the httpd.conf - i have created a public_html folder with 755 rights 2) if i set the documentroot to /home/user/website/ i get a "403 Forbidden" error. - even though i have disabled SELinux - i have put down iptables. has anyone come across above situation pls do help me with a solution. its critical for me. |
There's a million reasons to get what you're seeing, so we'll need your web server configs. You're in fc8, so don't forget the conf.d stuff too. And don't forget your apache error logs.
Dumb question: do you have an index file in /home/user/website/? Did you check the permissions on that file? On every dir below that file (/home, /home/user and /home/user/website)? Have you looked at the error log? |
all the directories starting from /home till /home/user/website and their files have 755 privilages.

You answered one of the three questions I asked and you posted no logs or configs.

and why did you install the unsupported ( past it's " End Of Life " ) fedora 8 .There are and never will be any updates to it ever.
