use a linux server to fetch mail for windows clients
Hello,
I would like to know if there is some way or some application that could help in this possible situation: Suppose you have many windows/linux/mac machines on an internal lan that are connected to the internet via a linux server with nat. Now, all these clients run some sort of mail clients like thunderbird, outlook, that retrieve mail from pop3 accounts and send mail via smtp. Is possible to use the linux box as a "cache" for mail retrieving that do antivirus via clamav and spam filtering retrieving the mail for the clients? I think half of the work could be done via fetchmail. But then? Thanks, tano |
Fetchmail/procmail can deliver to users' mail boxes, and you will then need an imap or pop server for the clients to attach to. Look for dovecot, cyrus-imap, etc on google

Thanks, I will reading about them!
