USB Boot Failure

Hey guys, I’ve been at this for two days now, and can’t make any progress. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
First, the details:
Target OS:
Fedora 14, i386
Target Machine:
IBM (e)server, xSeries 306
OS: Fedora v.4
Boot Order:
1. CD...
2. Removable Media
3. SATA...
USB Drive:
adata 8GB
Process:
I used the prescribed live usb creator for windows to fill the usb drive with Fedora 14 i386. I’ve attempted to boot from the USB at least 4 times, once from each USB port on the box. No luck.
There isn’t an option in the BIOS to select the specific boot device. I bring that up because my desktop does have that option, and using the BIOS’ “BOOT MENU”, I was able to boot from the USB and bring up the Fedora 14 Installation Menu, no problem.

So, it works on the pc that’s on my desk (eMachine w/XP), but the IBM doesn’t even recognize it. Any ideas?

Boot And Bios

Perhaps an update of the BIOS? :: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry...d=MIGR-5070623
Can you try a LiveCD instead?

So the server already has a running version of Linux on it?

If this be the case you could just install by creating hardware partitions and installing to and from their directories.
Kind of like the old riddle where you have a three litre jug, and a five litre jug, and you need four litres. Much more work, but if you see it as the only option, it is possible.

Thanks for the reply cin.
Interestingly enough, I've reached a solution but through other means. I considered the BIOS update, but didn't even finish burning a boot disc with the update before a friend suggested that it wasn't the computer but the software that I had used to create the bootables. So, I tried a different cd burner and this time the cd's worked. Fedora 14 is up and running smoothly.
