Upgrading Bind 9.7.3-P3 to Bind 9.9.1-P2 on RHEL 6.2 64-bit

Dears,

I have Bind 9.7.3-P3 installed on a RHEL 6.2 64-bit machine. I'd like to upgrade Bind to the latest version (Bind 9.9.1-P2), the problem is I don't have Redhat Network Subscription and therefore it's not so straight forward to upgrade Bind (using yum upgrade), can I just install Bind 9.9.1-P2 rpm on my machine to upgrade Bind?
Is Bind that ships with RHEL 6.2 64-bit the same as ISC Bind?
https://www.isc.org/software/bind

Thanks in advance for your help

If you don't have a RH subscription, you don't get support or updates, which means your machine is continually falling behind, especially in regards to security updates.
Consider switching to Centos; a free rebuild of RHEL that does include updates.
FYI RHEL/Centos are currently on 6.3 already.

If you don't want to re-install Centos, there are threads on LQ (or see google) that show how to change the repos list to point at Centos instead.

Hi Chrism01
Thanks a lot for your reply! Do you think that upgrading Bind installed on RHEL with Centos repositories might cause any problem?
Can I just install the rpm for the latest release of Bind?
