Unrealistic number of zones in rndc status
Hello!
I get 102 zones when I do rndc status. My BIND9 server is only authoritative for 1 zone (that's the site that I host on my LAMP server). I'm aware that it could be an extra ten or so zones, due to the fact that those are in system use or something like that. But it can't be an extra 101 zones. What's going on? |
There are roughly 97 zones in your average internet DNS server that exist to avoid recursive reverse lookups of private networks ranges.
These are for zones that should normally be answered locally and which queries should not be sent to the Internet's root servers. |
I see... Okay thanks a lot!
So that's a normal default status? And I should just leave it alone and not to worry about it? I'm talking about those empty zones... |
I'd still compare the list I linked to to the ones on my bind server but it probably isn't anything you should worry about (or need to fix),
|
OK, thanks a lot!
