.

ok, if you're unable to edit the firefox script, then here is what you can run instead to find the cause of firefox not starting:

This tells us the 2 things it does that are not common:
- 64 bit
- China locale
to debug further, you could edit /usr/lib64/firefox-3.6/run-mozilla.sh as root user (or sudo), and change:
replace with:
run firefox again, and give us the output

Good Pide,
I've changed this file "/usr/lib64/firefox-3.6/run-mozilla.sh " in the way you suggested. But I still can't start firefox after that (nothing happens after having pressed it)

At this point there is some royally messed up with this install .
Seeing as firefox will not run and you are missing most of the normal basic software groups .The ones normally installed in a default install .
fixing Firefox might be possible ,but what else is broken ?????
try this
Code:
su -
-- the root password when asked --
yum reinstall firefox
-- optional ---
yum install flash-plugin mozilla-adblockplus mozilla-noscript
or this
Code:
su -
-- the root password when asked --
yum groupinstall "Desktop" "Desktop Platform" "Internet Browser" "Internet Applications"
BUT i would think about a full reinstall
something is messed up big time with this install.

huamin, it's good you could edit that script.
now to get the debug info, you must run it from a text terminal (just like you did before) instead of clicking on the icon.

Do you really need to put screenshots up, rather than just putting the text here?

this is what i meant by "but what else is broken ????? "
it looks like most of Gnome is not installed
or at least there is no keyring to authenticate the session
I would reinstall SL6 and let the installed reformat
start all over again
for MY default Desktop install + "software Development "
i get this listed as INSTALLED for the command " grouplist"
Code:
yum grouplist
Loaded plugins: priorities, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Group Process

Good day John,
When doing a clean reinstallation of the SL6 dvd, do we need to have the paid license of RHN?
BTW, does a clean reinstallation mean the removal of everything of the OS?
