Unhappy unable to send email on local subnet

well, i have a problem related to setup the email server on my pc. (probably sendmail or postfix). I have two linux systems(host machine with RHEL6 & Virtual with RHEL5), both can ping each other by name and ip address, sendmail is installed and runnig on both ends, firewall & selinux is disabled. Now, problem starts here... the local mail delivery is working fine, but I'm unable to send/receive emails on another system (between rhel5 & 6 (A local subnet scenario). I don't know what's going wrong with the configuration.

plz....... help....

Hostnames--(No domain configured,no dns server configured,no dhcp(static address). Only /etc/hosts file updated)
RHEL6---- server.example.com (Host machine)
RHEL5---- client.example.com (virtual machine (VM virtualbox)

Thanks,

Thanks,
Firstly can you be specific which mail server is giving you trouble in sending mails?

sendmail or postfix?

I would like to have a look at your log files and the error which you are getting

Code:
#cat /var/log/messages
#cat /var/log/maillog
and if possible also post the config file of the mail server you are using..
