Unable to select Keyboard Type on Sun Fire X2270 server

Am carrying out installation of CentOS-5.5 on a Sun fire X2270 server using PXE. The installation starts well but on getting to the keyboard type the installation halts.

I have plugged in a USB keyboard unfortunately, am unable to select the keyboard type even on reboot as the keyboard is non-responsive. What might be the issue?

All suggestions are welcomed.

I am not familiar with the sun fire x2270. Is it an older machine and does it support USB in its BIOS for HMI devices like mice and keyboards? You are apparently running into some sort of driver or compatibility issue, but USB keyboards should be all but standard by now. Perhaps there is a low level problem. You might also want to look in the BIOS settings and see if there is anything that looks like it might be like a USB legacy or something similar.

Sun Fire X2270 is a pretty new rack-mounted server and was just delivered about a week ago. This would be the first installation we shall be carrying out on it. It only comes with four USB ports besides the four network ports, a VGA port, a serial and two slots for infiniband adapters. I'll try access the BIOS and will let you know of my progress.
