Ubuntu 14.04 Home Server, can't access from outside network with Exetel
Hi everyone,
This is my first post on this site. I am running a server from home on a windows machine through an oracle VM. It's Ubuntu 14.04 with Apache running (full LAMP actually). I have set a static IP for it, forwarded the router for ports 22, 80 and 6789 (just for a test) to it. The domain, gregdorrian.com.au is pointing to my Exetel IP address.
I have setup Listeners on 80 and 6789 and setup the Virtual host through apache.
Firstly I can SSH in fine. It works when I set the host file while on the network for the url on port 80 or 6789.
BUT, I can't seem to get to it through the outside world. I have heard that it is a thing that ISP's block certain ports but who would have thought they would block port 6789?? Is there something that I may be missing. I can ping it fine and SSH works so I'm assuning it must be a port thing.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Adam
