Ubuntu 11.10 server

I added the ubuntu desktop on top. I am finally getting used to unity, but I miss the ability to create my own interface.

you could always use classic Gnome (follow these steps):

Code:
sudo apt-get install gnome-panel
After gnome-panel is installed, log out, select Gnome Classic and wallaaaa!

Gnome-panel isnt 'classic gnome', no matter what the login screen on ubuntu 11.10 says. Its gnome 3 'fallback'.

If you want to completely customize your environment, I use enlightenment. I think the packages are now available.

sudo apt-get install enlightenment

Be ready to spend several hours reading docs and setting everything up, but for me it was worth it.
