Trying to Update CentOS 4.0 to 4.9
 
I have tried updating my boxes to 4.9 Final issuing the command:

'yum update'

At first all it did was update a lot of packages. Then after that I checked and it was still 4.0. Now if you use the command, it says theres nothing to do and I have tried yum clean all. So it seems it is stuck. I have 3 machines that I did this way and one was successful and the other 2 are not. So The repo file I have provided above I took from the 4.9 box and put into the 4.0's to try it and bummer...

I believe, if you check, that your entire system is up to date, and in fact running 4.9. But, the /etc/redhat-release file is old and not updated.

You can do a:

Code:
rpm -qa|grep release
to see what is installed

and probably:

Code:
yum install centos-release-4-9.el4.centos
To update it

Now the other server I get something different. It appears to be updated but:

Now that one in webmin still shows it as 4.0 but not sure why.

Those rpm errors are worrying, have you tried

rpm --rebuilddb

Well I have now. It did remove the errors but, yum still ends with nothing to do and when you check the version, it just goes to the next line. Should I replace the repo file again from a current one?

The other thing is that the servers seem to be running just fine.
