The servers I configure have around 10 ethernet interfaces (eth0 - eth9). Some are live and some are dead so if I configure IP address on a dead interface there will be no network connectivity. Is there a tool to detect which interfaces are alive or dead? This is easy on Windows - the dead interfaces have a red cross ("x") beside them. How about Linux?
