Thinking of building a ownCloud server on AM1 platform, tinkling of Debian Stable

Looking at a box based on AMD AM1, CPU AMD AM1 4-Core 1.3GHz APU, 4GB RAM.

Its for a small charity, light usage, mainly in-house ownCloude usage. not running any other core services.

Thinking Debian (server) stable is way to go, is this a good choice. Wanting something straightforward to setup and secure.

Would amd64 or i386 architecture I should download?

Hi,
the cpu is rather low powered but for your usecase it should work. Take the amd64 download, otherwise you will limit your access speed to the 4GB RAM (and in case you add RAM it will even get worse).

If you add the right repository you can apt install owncloud and have it be updated almost automatically.
Add this line to /etc/apt/sources.list (e.g. nano /etc/apt/sources.list)
deb http://download.owncloud.org/downloa...le/Debian_8.0/ /
(press ctrl-o, <enter>, ctrl-x and you edited it).
Afterwards
apt-get update
apt-get install owncloud
and you are ready to go (more or less) ;-)
HTH
