the usage of each folders in root

Hi guys,

What does each folder in root stands for? or what I really wish to understand is the brief usage each folder is for.

under root
Code:
bin
sbin
dev
mnt
proc
var
boot
etc
lib
media
opt
root
selinux
sys
usr
sorry guys, i googled but could not find any useful info yet. Was hoping I can get some advice here.

Thanks in advance as usual!
