Testing Load Balancing software

Hello, I recently set up a reverse proxy server that fronts two web servers. I'm using haproxy and everything is set up fine, but I was wondering whether anyone knows of a robust way to test the load balancer, and that it is following the algorithms specified in the configurations?

Basically how is the validity of a load balancer tested?

I don't have any specific answers or opinions for you, but when I use a Internet search engine with the search phrase:

"load balancer" testing
I get over 95,000 results which include testing methodology, tools, comments, info. on availability...
