Tar returns with error in Ubuntu 11.10 (tar version 1.22)

Hi Everybody,

I want to create a tar file using the script using the below line.

tar jcpf /mnt/backup.tar.bz2 /home/source/

or

tar jcvf /mnt/backup.tar.bz2 /home/source/

Both return with the following error.

/bin/tar: /home/source/index/_ddw.nrm: Cannot stat: No such file or directory
/bin/tar: /home/source/index/data/index.1: file changed as we read it
/bin/tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Please help to out to resolve the issue. Is there any command to check source and destination i.e /home/source and back.tar.bz2 .

Though I found the same thread in the forum, I did not found any solution to that.

Thanks in advance

tar first builds a list of files, then copies them one-by-one to the archive. The errors are due to the files changing between making the list and doing the copy. You can either pause the processes which are changing the files while you build the archive, or you can exclude the files that are changing.
