Question Sys Admin on a Red Hat machine

Hi all,

I'm curious if someone can give a clue what's up with cron daemon

all off a sudden it began giving this error about a month ago.

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:

error: Ignoring proftpd.rpmnew, because of .rpmnew ending

.rpmnew ending?

Thx,
Chris

When you a program installs a new config file, sometimes it will install it with a .rpmnew suffix so as not to overwrite your existing config. You just need to look at the new config file and decide if you want to use it, edit it or delete it.

Spell your words out, please.

And did you update proftp lately? You can just remove that file, or move it to a different location, and the error should abate.

Assuming the OP's problem was resolved, duplication of the error was possible. The suggested fix did resolve the problem.
