SUN Storage D1000 VS RHEL6 Intel

Hello Gurus,

I bought a used Sun Storage D1000 with for 4 Disks and scsi card Sym53c875.

i am trying to connect it to RHEL6 running on intel GGC 101 workstation,
does anything need to be done from OS end,

issue:

RHEL6 detected the disks in the OS when i try to fdisk its throughing error stating cannot read disk.

I have 2 ultra10 SParc boxes not yet connected to storage, next week i give a try..

Any help is appreciated
Thanks
JNReddy

It would help if you told us what the exact error is. And typically, those systems need to be partitioned into some sort of array via the BIOS on the controller. Have you done so? That is a RAID array...have you gone onto your controller BIOS, and defined anything? Did you try reading the documentation on both the array and controller?????

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19782-01/
http://www.o3one.org/hwdocs/lsilogic/53c875e.pdf

And that controller appears to be a bit old..is it even a RAID controller?

You were already TOLD what needs to be done in the first reply: YOU NEED TO CREATE THE ARRAY. Until the array is created, in whatever form you want (JBOD, RAID xxx, whatever), the controller can't present the disks to the OS...so the OS can't use them.

You're welcome, but NOTHING stopped you from looking these things up on your own, which you should ALWAYS do before posting questions.
