Sun machine backup


Dear Friends,

I have Sun Fire V880 machine with following OS installed:
SunOS ldap1 5.9 Generic_118558-34 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880

Following is the disk partition :

I want to take complete backup of this machine and restore this on Sun Fire V440 machine. How to take backup of this and restore it on V440. Please help in this regard. Thanks in advance

This should have been posted in the Solaris forum, but there are two things you need to do. First, read up on flash archives:

...your Solaris administrator should already know about this. Second, you need to contact Sun, since both the OS and hardware are vendor-supported. There may be difficulties in restoring to a different machine, especially if your disk hardware/controllers are different.

sunfire v440

hai friends i have sunfire v440 server.the solris os is installed in machine but i am try to install ubuntu or debian on sunfire v440 server . how to do it ??? please help me....................

SUN V440 ubuntu

Dear friend,

SUN V440 has a sparc architecture. so you are not able to install ubuntu or debian on it.

You can install ubuntu/debian on sun machines having x86 architecture.

I'm pretty sure that there's a sparc64 port for Debian; I don't think there's an Ubuntu port for it, though.
