Suma web application install issue - RHEL7 - Apache 2.4.6

Hello all,

Before I get into my issue, I first want to say that I am still new to the Linux and web application world. I have only been in linux for abour 4 or 5 months, and trying to learn web application for about 2 months now. So im still quite the newbie. So i apologize if my explanation below seems confusing. If I need to elaborate or re-describe anything, please just ask!

Also, I should note now that I have installed mod_ssl, and edited ssl.conf to use a wildcard cert, so as to only allow connections over HTTPS port 443.

I am attempting to install an internal web application called Suma ("offical" installation document is here: I have been able to complete most of the installation as describe in that link, with the exception of getting the "admin" page to work. In the installation, you are to create 3 symlinks:

ln -s /opt/Suma/service/web/ /var/www/html/sumaserver
ln -s /opt/Suma/web/ /var/www/html/suma/web
ln -s /opt/Suma/analysis/ /var/www/html/suma
As best as i can tell, these serve as the "web directories", and point back to the installation directory of "/opt/Suma/..." Once i complete my installation, i can access the web pages associated with links 2 and 3. However, when i try to access the page associated with link 1 "", it always says NOT FOUND. When i look in the logs, i see the following:

[:error] [pid 7036] [client IP ADDRESS] script '/var/www/html/index.php' not found or unable to stat
"GET /sumaserver/admin HTTP/1.1" 404 207
It looks to me that when i try to browse "", instead of it seeing the "index.php" file that loads the Admin page, it bounces back to the document root of "/var/www/html" and tries to load the file from there? I can try to type in the full path "", but then i get "404 Not Found" and logs of:

"GET /sumaserver/index.php HTTP/1.1" 404 22
I have followed these paths on the server to ensure the file does reside in the path it is trying to follow, and it IS there.

I have also ran yum install php. The "admin" page is the only one that runs off of .php it looks like. The other 2 are using .html

I dont know if its just me and my lack of understanding of linux and web applications, but this has been a very confusing installation for me. Hopefully my descriptions havent been as equally confusing. Thank in advance for any and all advice!

first a few things

redhat really is not free!
you really do need to buy the required server license to run a web server

how was Apache installed ?
su -
yum groupinstall "Web Server"
or any of the other ways from the rhn repos

or manually
if manual did you make the SE rules for it
and make a service -- rhel7 uses SystemD and not the older init system

Thanks John for the reply! I do actually have a redhat subscription, so everything i am using is fully licensed.

But, wouldn't you know, as soon as i post on this, i figure out the issue. This application has you use a mod_rewrite to get to the admin page i couldn't access. In order to make this work, i went into the httpd.conf file and changed the /var/ directories from "AllowOverride None" to "all". I guess i live and learn!
