Sub-Process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code

Hello All,
I am the new user of linux and i have installed ubuntu server 10.10. When giving the command sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.1, it shows error like this

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.1_5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1_i386.deb
tryng to overwrite '/etc/init.d/mysql' , which is also in package mysql-server 5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1
No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.1_5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

And i got the same error while giving sudo apt-get -f upgrade.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mysql-server

This is the metapackage that depends on the latest version of mysql-server.

It seems that you may already have the latest version installed (5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1.)
