stream movies with apache2

I have a server up and running Ubuntu 9.10 with Apach2 installed and working..
I would like to know how to configer apache to tream movies i have saved on the system.
I have over 600 avi videos on my drive and some of then are 4 gig.
I would like to stream them on a web site just for my home network.

As it works now I have a perl program set to make a web page with all the vides and a link to each one of them. Wheni click on a link it will down load and them play on my other PC's/Laptops in my house.

Whati would like to do is setup a site that i can go to with a web address from inside my network and have it show me a list of videos on my drive and then play them on a web page.

I have two pc that I would like them to play on and both of then have a 52" screen.

To see a image of one of the desktops I would like to have the movies play one go to my site.
www.ferretforce.com just click on live chat.

Don't play them on a web page, it's not worth it.
Link a playlist file from the page such as myfilm.m3u
and set your browser to open .m3u files with your favourite media player (mplayer, VLC).
The video will automatically start playing as soon as the player has enough to work with.

An example m3u file, Blade.m3u
Code:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Blade
http://www.mydomain.com/my_media/Blade.avi
I have my videos set up to be launched from a firefox live bookmark.
