starting spamassassin daemon on Solaris 9

I am trying to start the daemon (of spamassassin) on solaris 9. It was working before but now it stopped. Every time I start it, it dies out eventually.

I have read the document: http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spam...2/spamd/README

and started

/usr/local/bin/spamd&
/usr/local/bin/spamc&

but now the spamc process is not there. there is 3 processes (forks) of spamd and I know they will eventually die out as well.

Is there any other 'special way' to start spamd?

I haven't tried spamd -d as I thought /usr/local/bin/spamd& would just do it.

You should check the logs to see if you find out why spamd dies. Or increase the debug level.
The way I start spamd in my sparc box (running solaris 8) is:

/usr/local/bin/spamd -d -u nobody --syslog-socket=none

because perl had problems using the default syslog facility.

Is this

/usr/local/bin/spamd&

a typo for

/usr/local/bin/spamd &

??
