Hi there
i got some problem with my SSH
i had install SSH on my linux server as SSH server and my client are window users
the problem is that my client(window) can SSH my linux server using putty but my linux server cant ssh my client
i had generate the ssh-keygen on my server and i had configure my hosts.allow file to allow all my user but still i cant ssh them
to could anyone help my with these
Do you mean that you want to SSH into the windows PCs? If so, you will need the SSH daemon running on them to accept the connections. Somebody else here may know of a native SSH daemon for windows (I don't), but if you search Google there are hits for running the SSH daemon under cygwin on windows.
yes
i want to remote to my window pc.
seriously i dont know bout the deamon because from all the manual i got they dont tell how to test the service with user from window platfrom n they dont tell how to configure the window client or how to configure the server to allow ssh connection from window connection
could anyone tell me how to deamon the ssh or how to configure the server to accept connection from window user
If you use the program named putty (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/), you'll be able to connect from windows to a linux server via SSH. You cannot use the same program to ssh from linux t windows however. To do that, you need to be running a program call cygwin, which is a *nix emulator that runs on windows.
Cygwin doesn't give you anything but a text connection to the windows box, just like ssh on linux. If you actually want to be able to "see" what is going on and run windows applications, you'll need to use either a remote desktop client or vnc to get a desktop on a windows box from linux.
Depending on what version of Windows you're running will depend on what you use for remote desktop. If you're running XP Professional you cna use either Remote Desktop or VNC. If you're running anything else you need to use VNC. If you use Remote Desktop you wil need to enable it in System Properties.
Personally I recommend VNC but that is just a recommendation. I use both depending on what I"m doing. In fact I use remote desktop to control a server and from there I use VNC to control another computer on my personal network.
thanks to kenneth.ramsey and JimBass for ur help
i will try both of ur suggestion.
1 more thing, do i had to configure the putty to be client to my linuxserver because sometime 1 of my window server@client cant ssh the linux server even using the putty
Unless you've done something strange to the sshd config on the server, nothing needs to be done to allow putty to work. Just put the the IP of the server, and your username, then it will prompt you for the password.
You may need to forward port 22 from your router to the linux machine if you are trying to connect over the internet rather than just within your LAN.
