You will need a line like

home_mailbox = Maildir/

in your postfix's main.cf

# DELIVERY TO MAILBOX
#
# The home_mailbox parameter specifies the optional pathname of a
# mailbox file relative to a user's home directory. The default
# mailbox file is /var/spool/mail/user or /var/mail/user. Specify
# "Maildir/" for qmail-style delivery (the / is required).
#
#home_mailbox = Mailbox
#home_mailbox = Maildir/
thats what /etc/postfix/main.cf looks like

http://batleth.sapienti-sat.org/projects/mb2md/
is that what i need?

Very quick look - looks OK. Make sure you backup /var/spool/mail (or whatever your directory is - it's on the other page).

I think I may have been wrong in the previous post - that will put the Maildir in your home directory (which is what I do, and fine if that's what you want). I think to get it in the same location, you need to use

mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail/$user/

Note the trailing "/"

Also note, I haven't tried this.

# The mail_spool_directory parameter specifies the directory where
# UNIX-style mailboxes are kept. The default setting depends on the
# system type.
#
#mail_spool_directory = /var/mail
#mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail/$user/

like that?

There isn't much point having it commented out.

Are you using virtual users of system users? If system, you are probably better off putting their mail in their home directory (which is standard).

Then you should have a virtual_mailbox_maps table to put the mail location into instead
