squid_ldap_auth with ADS

Hi all,

We all know that we can use squid_ldap_auth to authenticate to a Windows Active directory if we enter the auth_param line in /etc/squid/squid.conf as something like below

auth_param basic program /usr/lib/squid/ldap_auth -R \
-b "dc=vm-domain,dc=papercut,dc=com" \
-D "cn=Administrator,cn=Users,dc=your,dc=domain,dc=com"\
-w "password" -f sAMAccountName=%s -h

i would like to know if the option -w can be eliminated by some means.Because in our setup we don't want the password to be displayed anywhere ;-).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

one option you could try for this problem would be to setup squid with pam authentication

and then authenticate against Active directory using PAM and LDAP

... just an idea.
