Squid WAN IPHi Guys

I have an Odd problem

I built a proxy server using squid and shorewall using a ppp0 ADSL connection and all worked well.

The problem I have is that now I dont use ppp0 anymore, I have a static IP and when going to www.speedtest.net, it shows my local IP instead of my WAN IP. it works properly when connected to ADSL though. Also, the strange thing is that if I go to www.whatsmyip.co.za, is shows the correct WAN IP

I have tried disabling SQUID and running it directly through shorewall and when doing that, it displays the WAN ip correctly on the speedtest.net site. Its only when its going through squid that it has a problem

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Take a look at the http_port variable in squid.conf. Make sure it isn't set to tproxy. Only a guess, but is seems from the doc that this mode would cause the users local IP address to by presented to the Internet, though I am not sure why you would want to do that :-)

Hi

It is set to transparent proxy... the thing is that I dont want the users internal IP to be displayed... i want the external WAN ip to be displayed. on ADSL through ppp0 it works fine (even on transperant proxy)... only with a static WAN IP does it give this problem. It has to be a squid conifguration problem
