Squid Error


My squid proxy server is not working.After configure , while i restart squid service it gives the bellow error message

stopping squid [FAILED]
Starting squid: /etc/inin.d/squid: line number 53:2823 Aborted $ SQUID
$SQUID_OPTS >>/var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1 [FAILED]

Please reply me if any one has ever face this problem or, can solve this problem .

hi gautam,
could you give more details about what you did to configure squid, it would be easier to help you.
The process should be - download a tarball for a stable version (3.0) -> untar it -> ./configure -> make -> make install.
This will give you a dir structure /usr/local/squid, and inside it you will have a sbin dir.
The squid executable is in the sbin subdir. Execute it using the following command after changing dir to /usr/local/squid/sbin

./squid -Ns &

That should start squid if you have created the squid.conf file alright.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH OUT INSTALL THIS TARBALL HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM .
BECAUSE , I HAD CONFIGURE THIS SQUID MANY TIMES BUT SOME TIMES I GOT SUCCESS AND MAXIMUM TIME I GOT THIS ERROR AND CANNOT FIX THIS.

Dear Sir,

Please give me some other solution. i cannot find tarball from internet.
I am still have the problem .
