squid dead but pid file exist
Respected Fiends,
I configured the squid server and its running excellently. We have approx 2000 users. Nowadays a messages is coming "SQUID DEAD BUT PID FILE EXIST". The squid get stopped. But Later on if I start the service it runs for some time and again I have to restart it again. I will be very thankful if anybody can help me out. Thanks in Advance With Regards Jatender |
Unfortunately, that's not much information. Can you post the data from your squid log files leading up to the time that Squid stops working?

So it dies without warning and leaves a pid file so you cannot restart the service? If you are 100% sure the service isn't running, just rename the pid file. Pid files are just text files with a number in them. Pids are usually in /var/run
You can check where it is for your squid by looking in /etc/init.d/<what ever in here starts squid> Restart the service and check to see if the pid comes back /var/run. Check with ps or top to see if it is running, if not start checking logs. |
