SMTP Auth question

I'm running Sendmail 8.14.1, I'm not very familiar with SMTP Auth, and only recently set it up so friend could use his phone to send and receive mail.

I currently have the system set up so that e-mail comes in through a spam filter box and then is forwarded to Sendmail on another box. The problem I'm having is that occasionally I will recieve a spam message directed to the A record instead of the MX record.

Is there a way that I can set up sendmail to only allow smtp traffic from authenticated users and from my mx record?

Change the port Sendmail listens on and configure your spam filter box (I'm assuming it's Amavisd) to connect on the new port. This will stop any email from being sent directly to this server unless they know the new port.

why I didn't think of that I don't know. It's actually an ASSP box. Now just to remember how to make sendmail listen on a different port, I think I remember.
