sme server 7.6
 

Hi Guys, think i'm finally at the point of self certification....

I have installed sme_server 7.6, no probs.... except the installation requires the address of the gateway used to access the internet.
(now bearing in mind im new to all this)

this is the router address - im certain.... thompson gateway address 192.168.1.254

when i try to enter it, it just reloads the screen with the default ip address (which incidently the installation will also not accept)

Please help.....

if you want to be absolutely sure run a traceroute from another pc on the same network segment and the first hop is your gateway.

its kind of odd for a gateway ip to be set at 192.168.1.254 it can be but the default 99% of the time is 192.168.1.1 on most routers using that IP scheme.


I would try tracerouting to google.com
$traceroute google.com

the first line is your gateway
