SLES 10.0 SP1 Password Lenght

Hi, Im running a SLES 10.0 SP1 as a PDC, and it's running just fine, but I have one small problem... For some reason it has a password max length as 8 characters... and that's not long enough. Does anyone know how to change the max length?

I usually change this behaviour during install time. You can also do YAST -> Security & Users -> Local Security -> Custom Settings -> Password Settings. I usually change the encryption method from DES to MD5.

Thanks for the fast reply :)

I did what you told me to do, and after that I tried to create a new user, that had over 8 characters long password, but yast still whined about it :( Do I need to reboot the server?

Yes, I think you probably need to do a reboot.

I am not sure of that one. Did you change your encryption method to md5 or blowfish?

During the install we changed it to blowfish

Thats strange because during install time, I change mine to md5 and I can use passwords longer than 8 characters.
