slackware 14 as a pxe server
oke to start ive been trying to get this to work with info i found online and in that way i wasted around a week of my life with old info or info that isn't relevant to slackware
what my goal is is to set up a simple pxe server that also handles its own network so no router and it need to boot linux preferred slackware in it self but any other is acceptable 2 for my self i thougth about slax, slackware14 or dsl the info that i need what packages to use (i know i need dhcp and tftp but what one is best for normal pxe) and how to configure it the correct way and what files are needed to make the boot in it self possible srry for asking it in this way but after a week of crap guides online am i kinda out of options and if i get it running thx to you guys i promise to make a guide in a clean way out of the info you guys gave me and post it on the slackware docs wiki thx in advance and i hope you all will help me see this to an end ow and i know my quote below the post is kinda contradicting with what i am asking here but plz for this time ignore it ^^ |

thx for pointing that thread out normally i skip most stuff that start talking about the slackware pxe installer since that is clearly not my goal
i wil document that when i have the chance and put it to a test (already checked but some url's in that thread are dead) and when it works i will move on to the next step how to make the files needed for pxe boot for witch i think will make a new thread also just to tell you in advance if the guide is finished i will credit you in helping gathering the info and the same i will do with the names in the linked thread if they want to and of-course the site hehe again thx in advance and thx to helping in the making in a good documented guide to pxe for slackware (and i mean not just the steps but also wy each step and the goal of the step and how it works to the main goal) |
