Silly Question but need an answer

I have a mount point called /mount1 and under it is a bunch of directories but there is one directory that has the exact same name as the parent directory only it has an @ after it.

Quote:
ls -l of /mount1 shows this:

/mount1/mount1@
If I create a file in mount1@ it creates the same file in /mount1 and vise versa.

What does the @ mean? I do not want to remove the mount1@ directory because I do believe it will remove the directories and files in /mount1 due to the creation issue above.

Nevermind, it was a symbolic link, don't know how I missed that. Guess I am on vacation before my vacation. Sorry all.

To elaborate, the -F option to ls tells it to append symbols to the end of the file names based on their type (@ being the symbol for symlinks, for example). There are a few other related options as well. info ls has the details.

You must have your ls command aliased to that option.
