Servers running kernel 2.4 not accepting anything via IPv6

I have a number of Slackware based machines. Some are standard 2.4 kernels, others are 2.6. While experimenting with IPv6 (tunnels using go6.net, and direct locally) I've discovered that the only ones to show any open ports (and then only port 22 ssh) are the ones running the 2.6 kernels.

Is this a known 'feature', or have I configured something wrong?

The machines vary from Slackware 10.0 through 11.0. Typically I'm using 2.4.31 and 2.6.13 kernels.

All answer ping6.

My google searches haven't helped so far.

/Frank

If your 2.4 kernel supports ipv6, then you need to load the ipv6 module:
Code:
modprobe ipv6
If it doesn't support it, you have to manually re-compile your kernel to enable support for ipv6.
