Server reboot, why ?

Hello!

Today I found my Server rebooting without any input from me.

Now I checked /var/log/messages and /var/log/warn but I did not find any info, why the server was rebooted.

Can anybody give me a hint, how i can find out, why my server rebooted ?

Hi,

Have you checked the following:

- Output of the dmesg command (or the output of the previous one, if present on your box),
- Power outage (assuming your server starts again when the power comes back on),
- Manual/remote reboot (check with last command. ssh, or alike, logs),

Just a few things that came to mind.

Hope this helps.

My home-built server used to reboot if it got too hot. Have you checked for that?
