Server process load or client process load?

I build a web server. It's running on a VM environment. I configured it to index the files in my directory.

Now all files are videos (.mp4) I clicked it, and it streams on my browser.

Now my question is who's the one that process the video much more? The server or the client?

I do top on my server and its 99% idle. Btw, I'm playing the video 2 instance at a time.

I think the video is processed by the browser, where it is played actually. The server only sends the file to the client.

Yes, that's what I found out too. I did 3 instance at a time play it (1080p BluRay) I checked my server again and its totally fine but the client handles the processing of the browser where the videos are running. The connection/session is the one handled by the server too so the load of server will increase if there's to many session (client) connected to it.

That's correct: the server is only sending the content to the client. The client's doing all the streaming and display work.

The work of preparing the content for delivery, on the other hand, is probably being done on the server, which can be expected to have "beefy" hardware and fast network connections.
