Server doesn't respond after a certain time

Hello,

I've made a little server at home, all looks to be fine, but there's a problem, and I can't see it in the system logs (kern.log, syslog, messages, dmseg).

My problem is, after a certain time, my server doesn't respond to anything (ssh, web, mails...). I must press any key on the keyboard, and the server is comming back (all services). It's happened 2 times today. One time while I slept (after saw this, I've activated TCP KeepAlive) and another one time when I was on SSH.

In the bios I've activated "Wake On PCI" and "Power ON when power fail".

It's a bios-related problem or hardware or Linux configuration ?

Thanks for your help !

(Sorry for bad english, I'm french)

Does this server have a desktop (Gnome or KDE) installed? If so, have you looked at the power manager settings in system settings/ preferences? Perhaps the server is going into sleep-state (I don't believe that active network connections would prevent this) - server should be set to never sleep.

This thread describes a similar issue - user says the problem was the BIOS power save option.

Other option to self shutdown is overheating.
You can check /var/log/messages for that.
