server alias

I have a linux server and have several domains set up.

When i want to set up a new domain and build a new site i usually set up a server alias in the config file for that domain so i can see the website.

Recently for some reason even when i put in an alias it keeps coming up with another site on my server.

even if i put in something random ie hkhhkhk.mydomain.com

this website comes up.

Any ideas why this would be happening? and why i cant get other aliases to come up.

thanks

Your config would help us understand what's going on. Otherwise it's a guess as to what's going on.

found it

for some reason the default config file in the etc directory had that website set.

Removed that entry and everything is fine now.

thanks
