sendmail + nagios


Hello team


i have nagiosxi installed on centos 5.5 , it uses sendmail mail to send notification once the host is down, Since friday last week it stopped sending notifications emails

i tried to check on logs and below is the output ;---

Jul 4 17:55:33 nagios sendmail[32377]: r64EtXSP032377: Authentication-Warning: nagios.mydomain.com: nagios set sender to root@localhost.localdomain using -f
Jul 4 17:55:33 nagios sendmail[32377]: r64EtXSP032377: from=root@localhost.localdomain, size=1749, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<eedd2565b4ea93b30cb36439b712754d@localhost. localdomain>, relay=nagios@localhost
Jul 4 17:55:33 nagios sendmail[32377]: r64EtXSP032377: to=monitor@mydomain.cm, delay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=31749, dsn=4.4.3, stat=queued

checked on que ue but it shows 0

[root@nagios ~]# mailq
/var/spool/mqueue is empty
Total requests: 0
[root@nagios ~]#

Could someone please advice on this..

Could someone please advice on this..
A few obvious questions come to mind:
  • What happened last Friday? If it WAS working and now it's not, then SOMETHING changed, and it changed last Friday. What was it?
  • Have you checked to see if sendmail is actually running on the server?
  • Have you checked your mail relay host to see if it's working?
  • Can you send mail from ANY other programs?
