Sendmail as a secondary MX server

Hi,

My main sendmail is working fine with domain @mydomain.com. Now I have to configure it just for queuing email for an other domain 'mystie2domain.com' as secondary MTA (with higher priority MX record).

Since primary sendmail for domain mysite2domain.com not always remain connected/online.

Here is the DNS entry for mysite2domain.com.

mysite2domain.com. IN MX 10 primary.mysite2domain.com.
mysite2domain.com. IN MX 20 secondary.mydomain.com.

When both sendmail are online then there is no issue. Both domains get their emails from hotmail/yahoo. But when primary.mysite2domain.com server goes down then secondary.mydomain.com server doesn't queue mail for mysite2domain.com.

When I checked log at mydomain.com server (secondary for mysite2domain) then Error was 'Relaying denied' and email bounced back to client. I edited local-host-names file with entry mysite2domain.com & then error 'unknown user' shown in log file.

Please help me how to configure my main sendmail server?

Thanks

you should be able to solve the problem by adding the following line to the /etc/mail/access file of the secondary.mydomain.com mail server.

Quote:
mystie2domain.com RELAY
then rebuild the access database by using

Quote:
makemap hash /etc/mail/access.db < /etc/mail/access
