Script for Machine Status??


Hello Frens..
I have 7 machines in my group.I want to write a script which will state that these machines are all running.And that too I want to show in one of the webpage designed by me for my group???
Plzz help

Nagios is very cool and very sophisticated. Maybe a litte bit too much if you only need basic monitoring.

You can also exec system commands in php like ping and display the results and or further process the output. [1]

Another possibility is to use popen() to do so but beware that you may introduce serious security holes if you don't evaluate the commands that are executed by the script. [2]

OpenNMS would be better most likely than Nagios. Nagios would be overkill for 7 machines.
