Script for fixing broken character encodings in emails

Hi,

I often receive emails that contain an incorrect "Content-Type" header which causes them to be displayed incorrectly in Thunderbird if the encoding auto-detection is enabled.

Is there any filter script out there that tries to figure out the used charset by scanning the mail body and that possibly fixes such encoding inconsistencies?

check enca - it seems to guess charset, so you have to extract content-type from email and pass it to enca as destination charset - and you will (I hope) have both text encodind and content-type header same.
