Screen resolution issue in ubuntu Lucid server edition 10.04


Hi
i had installed ubuntu 10.04 lucid server edition ,But i could int change my screen resolution of my system .


root@beet:~# xrandr

but nothing worked for me .Still in my system-prefrenec-monitor. i could able to find sreenresolution 800*600 .How can bring out my screen resolution to 1024×768 pixel.
