Scalix + Sendmail smtp port alteration

Hi,

I have scalix (sendmail) installed on my server and it is working very good but I need to change the smtp listening port because I am thinking that my sendmail is being used as a spam engine.

Can you please let me know what/how I need to configure in order to change the smtp port?

Thanks in advanced for your help.

Do you want to change the listening port from 25? If you do, other servers won't be able to send mail to you - is that what you wanted to do?

Can you give some more information about the spam engine problem you mentioned - there's a good chance it can be solved without requiring a port change. There are many Sendmail servers running safely without needing to do that.

Thanks for your reply.

My users are receiving alot of Mail delivery failure report. That is, it seems that my server is trying to send spam but my spamassassin is blocking them resulting in sending these delivery report. The deliver report says as follows:

Subject: Returned Mail: Message Could Not Be Delivered

Body:

Message could not be delivered to the following recipient:

hooper13@tx.com

because: A mail transport failure occurred

Supplementary Information:

550 5.7.1 Blocked by SpamAssassin

What can I do to resolve this please?

I get something similar to that. Are there corresponding entries in the log to indicate that your users sent those emails? Mine have always been due to the sender of the spam using one of my email addresses as a from address - without sending from my server. Without corresponding entries in you mail logs, I'd say you're experiencing the same thing, although someone else with more experience may post more information.

As far as stopping it goes... I did some reading about SPF, but because it only happens occasionally I haven't implemented it here.
