SAR and TOP


The SAR result for the idle CPU was 83.24%,
But the TOP got the CPU idle 98.9% at 03:31, 98.9% at 03:32, 98.9% at 03:35,98.9% at 03:36, 98.9% at 03:38.
The information is different?


SAR result:
03:30:01 AM CPU %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle
03:40:01 AM all 1.11 0.00 2.63 13.02 0.00 83.24


TOP result:
top - 03:32:01 up 229 days, 12:17, 0 users, load average: 2.60, 0.92, 0.37
Tasks: 248 total, 2 running, 246 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.6%us, 0.3%sy, 0.0%ni, 98.9%id, 0.2%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 12170960k total, 12097144k used, 73816k free, 82880k buffers
Swap: 12586916k total, 208k used, 12586708k free, 11351452k cached

Yes...yes it is. What's your point?

The system load is going to vary from minute to minute, so of course you're going to get different values.
