Samba Server Authentication
Hi all,
I recently installed Redhat 9 to a IBM Netvista workstation and have at least tried to configure it to work as a server. I have installed all the neccessary services for Samba to work against my Windows domain. I able to autheticate against the windows network but when I try to access the linux box from windows, it prompts me to enter credentails but does not seem to authenticate. I know I need to configure either, Pam.d, Kerberos, etc.. Could anyone help me thru it? Thanks in advance, Willie |
hai,
you need to check 1.are you sure , you have a encrypt passwords = yes in global options??? 2.You must have smbpasswd added for the user, for whom to which you are trying to login from windows. check it with a ===== smbpasswd -a user1.now try to login from windows. 3.Even though every login credetials are ok,you have another lock. that is ost allow ==in global settings(ex:hosts allow = 192.168.0. 192.168.2. 127.)If you dont have your Ip range here you will be never allowed. *****All the best***** |
